A one-day course designed for lower-risk workplaces and services where staff need to be ready to respond quickly and confidently to common emergencies. The training is hands-on, practical and easy to understand, giving learners the skills to manage an incident safely until further help is available. Fully aligned with HSE requirements.

The role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider
Scene assessment, primary survey and safe working practices
Adult CPR and AED use
Managing an unresponsive casualty
Choking, seizures and shock
Bleeding, burns, scalds and minor injuries
Using first aid equipment
Workplace reporting and incident documentation

A comprehensive, in-depth programme for higher-risk environments where a broader range of injuries, illnesses and incidents may occur. This course builds strong, practical competence through realistic scenarios and extended hands-on practice. It covers everything in the 1-day EFAW and adds specialist skills needed to manage serious medical conditions, trauma, and complex casualty care. Fully HSE-approved and suitable for appointed workplace first aiders.
What this course covers:
All EFAW content (including CPR, AED, choking and casualty assessment)
Secondary survey and detailed monitoring of casualties
Fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains and spinal injuries
Head, chest, eye and burn injuries
Severe bleeding and shock
Major medical emergencies: asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, epilepsy, stroke, heart attack and angina
Crush injuries, electrical injuries and poisoning
Managing long-term casualty care
